Newtown: what
actually goes wrong.
Newtown is a small inner suburb between East Ipswich and Silkstone, with older homes on the side streets off Brisbane Road and Cameron Park at its centre. Much of its housing is close to a century old, and many properties have been renovated more than once.
Most of Newtown was built before PVC drainage and copper or PEX water pipes became standard, so earthenware sewer lines, galvanised water pipes and original cisterns are still in the ground and still working. That age is what drives the enquiries here: blockages that keep coming back at the same joint, corrosion leaks inside walls, and fixtures whose parts stopped being made decades ago.
