Goodna: what
actually goes wrong.
Goodna is one of the oldest settlements in the Ipswich area, with a town centre along Brisbane Road, a busy train station and streets that run down to the Brisbane River and Woogaroo Creek. The suburb is well known for its jacarandas and, unfortunately, for the floods of 1974, 2011 and 2022, which reached well into the lower streets.
Most of Goodna was built before PVC drainage and copper or PEX water pipes became standard, so earthenware sewer lines, galvanised water pipes and original cisterns are still in the ground and still working. That age is what drives the enquiries here: blockages that keep coming back at the same joint, corrosion leaks inside walls, and fixtures whose parts stopped being made decades ago.

Older earthenware sewers are common, and the flood history means silt and debris in drains, damaged overflow gullies and stormwater that backs up when the river is high are all part of the local picture.
