Gailes: what
actually goes wrong.
Gailes is a compact suburb wedged between Goodna, the Ipswich Motorway and the Brisbane City boundary. Much of its housing dates from the post-war decades, and its low ground beside Woogaroo Creek was affected in the 2011 and 2022 floods.
Gailes was built while drainage and plumbing materials were changing over, which means one house can have clay in the front yard and PVC out the back. Blockages here usually trace to one ageing section or a junction between the two, not the whole system. Original hot water systems, taps and drains across the suburb are now reaching the end of their service life at roughly the same time.
