Blackstone: what
actually goes wrong.
Blackstone was founded by Welsh miners in the nineteenth century, and its heritage is still visible in the old church, the remains of Brynhyfryd and streets of early cottages. Underground workings run beneath parts of the suburb, and newer homes have been added on the higher ground towards Swanbank.
Most of Blackstone was built before PVC drainage and copper or PEX water pipes became standard, so earthenware sewer lines, galvanised water pipes and original cisterns are still in the ground and still working. That age is what drives the enquiries here: blockages that keep coming back at the same joint, corrosion leaks inside walls, and fixtures whose parts stopped being made decades ago.
